We're thrilled to share photos from Nicki & Dylan's gorgeous farm wedding. With a backdrop of brilliant fall foliage growing up the side of a rustic barn, the setting was perfect for a fall wedding in the country. But a dramatic last second site change involved equal parts necessity and serendipity.
When strong wind gusts whipped across the fields, toppling chairs and knocking over signs during the setup, the bride’s father suggested a site change. With guests scheduled to within the hour, friends and family rushed to pick up chairs and pitch in to move the entire ceremony site from the wind-battered open field to a sheltered site less than 50 yards away where the barn offered a welcome windbreak. This flight attendant and pilot weren't about to let the wind ground their wedding plans for an outdoor wedding. The site switch enabled them to have their dream outdoor ceremony, plus the trees and foliage backdrop offered a beautiful added bonus.
Following the ceremony, guests filtered into an adjacent clear top tent for the celebratory reception. Rustic but elegant décor and other special touches provided additional personalization to the event space.
For the centerpieces, we utilized dahlias, scented geranium, lisianthus, hydrangea, ninebark and mums in fall colors with an emphasis on rich copper hues and deep plum tones in our designs, which were created utilizing vintage milkglass vases and compotes.
For Nicki’s bridal and bridesmaid bouquets, we incorporated lots of creamy ‘café au lait’ dahlias plus flowering kale, mums, roses, scented geraniums and seeded eucalyptus into the designs. Pheasant feathers provided by Nicki, added additional color and structure to the bouquets.
After a festive sparkler sendoff at the end of the evening, the couple headed out on their honeymoon. Their destination: Florida. Their mode of transport: a car. With their heads in the clouds most days, these two love birds decided to stay low to the ground.
